INTRODUCTION
The patchwork essay is made up of 3 individual essays which come together to form one final essay.
Two different buildings must be chosen for analysis:
Submissions are done in groups of 2 students.
Essay 1 is based on researching the historical aspects of the chosen building.
- 0% of module.
Essay 2 is based on researching the contemporary aspects of the chosen buildings.
-10% of module.
Essay 3 is based on comparing and analysing the chosen buildings.
- 40% of module.
For each essay, a hard copy must be handed in and a presentation must be performed.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
We should be able to identify & evaluate contexts of architecture, cities and landscapes. Such contexts should include:
We should recognise the links between historic & modern architectural contexts.
We should be able to analyse the architectural perceptions and manifestations of various cultures and societies.
We should be able to use information to plan and develop investigation strategies and responses.
Visual, verbal and written methods of communication should be used effectively to convey knowledge and understanding of context.
The Harvard Referencing System should be used in the essays.

- They must share the same location (context).

- NOTE: the presentation for this essay should focus on the conclusion section.
- NOTE: essay 3 allows for improvement on essays 1 & 2, based on feedback, as they must be submitted as part of on essay 3.
- NOTE: All sources must be referenced. References should be inserted into the text in appropriate places and all references must be placed into the bibliography.
