An important part of my design is that it works well with the site around it. Having looked at the Nordic Pavilion I was inspired by the use of bringing nature inside, yet my concern was that this would contradict my concept. However, I may now have realised a way of doing this whilst maintaining the integrity of my concept.
Even though growing trees into my building might be a compromise for my concept, there are other ways of introducing some of the the surrounding context into the inside of my building. As well as using local materials and green roofs on the outside, it would be possible to use some of the sandstone which is extracted from the side of the waterfall during the construction of the building to create some features within the building. For example, small separating walls could be created from slabs of sandstone. |
