LIFECYCLE TOWER The design of the LifeCycle Tower in Austria uses wooden construction to achieve a 30 story high structure. This modern use of wooden construction proves that high rise buildings are not just confined to using steel frames. However what really interests me lies in the image below. The green panel on the side of the building is grass which is growing no the building itself. I love the idea of doing this, of creating a living wall. By allowing nature to grow on a building, it is like you are giving it back to nature. The structure no longer feels as obtrusive and begins to blend in more. I really like the idea of nature being introduced into cities, for example whole tower being clad in vegetation. But it would also work remarkably well for the observation tower too, allowing it to work with the natural surroundings instead of just providing a view of them. |
