Watercolour painting can create beautiful effects which other media simply cannot replicate. Agnes-Cecile manages to use this with incredible ability, but also with impressive speed.
Produced over a period of one and a half hours, the above image is a beautifully painted portrait. The attention to detail in the eyes is impressive and I love the way that the various colours overlap and merge together to create form.
The result is quite calming and peaceful. It got me thinking that perhaps my client may use his art to try and counteract his bipolar symptoms. I feel that as an artist he may produce work influenced by the heights of each mood swing, but on a therapeutic note, he may do the opposite. It may well be that when he is manic, producing calm paintings is his way of countering the mania, and vice versa for his depression.
If this was the case then it would be something far more personal to him would likely be reserved fro his private residential areas, as opposed to the gallery area.
