James Turrell is a talented artist who works with light and colour, his most famous works are often done through the use of framing skies.
The above image is of Above Horizon, by James Turrell. It is a space designed to be a piece of art in itself. Every wall is lit up with colours which change subtly as you lie in the space. There is an opening in the roof and in one corner which allow users to gaze out at the sky. Every corner is curved to minimise shadows and create a seamless wall of colour.
What is amazing about this piece is that the manipulation of the colours tricks you into thinking that the sky is changing colour. It is a fascinating illusion to observe and happens as a result to your eyes adjusting to the colours which are being presented so boldly inside the room. As the sun sets, the effect is at it's most powerful.

Aside from it's abilities to frame views in such a unique way, it is interesting to find that this is in fact part of a residence. It goes to show that installation is not necessarily separate from living. It could be possible to use colours to light up the design of my own building/s on both interior and/ or exterior. This is certainly worth exploring.
