This observatory, shaped similarly to a vase, was designed by Duggan Morris Architects. It was part of a competition for a Liverpool observatory for placement in Crosby to allow visitors to overlook the city and view where they are in relation to their surroundings. I am not a big fan of it personally, I do not think that it fits with the surrounding beach area. Having visited Crosby Beach myself, I do not feel as though the architecture would necessarily compliment the area. However, I do like the almost spider-web style facade and the way that wraps around like a cocoon. I also like the way that the tower plays with curves, as if it has been sculpted like a piece of pottery. |
