EL JÜBERGTURM O TORRE MIRADOR From the outside, this tower is not too dissimilar in style to the Strand East Tower. However it is located in a very different setting, amongst trees and wildlife instead of a city. Even though it is in a different setting, it works equally as well, I think that this is testament not only to the design but also to the materials used. Wood is at home almost anywhere, but arguably even more so in natural environments such as the Arboretum. The section of this design, seen in the bottom image, reveals a spiralling staircase up to the top. This works well with the design of the exterior because as you scale the building, the cladding opens up to reveal the view, becoming completely open at the top. I like this idea of gradually revealing the view, it encourages people to keep going and I think that it could be used to intrigue people around a more twisting structure with winding corridors. |
