This lookout tower by Avanto Architects is located on Korkeasaari Island, providing it with a view of Helsinki.
It’s intriguing shape and geometric patterns make it a attention grabbing structure. However it also feels like it belongs amongst it’s surroundings.
I love the geometry of the tower and the way that it bends around and twists to form the shape of the building. However, as can be seen in the bottom image, this actually obstructs the view of the surroundings somewhat.
I like that the framing creates a view through a small opening at the top, causing people to see clearly at the sky. I simply feel that the view from the top could be enhanced more if there was less of the geometric framing on the top level.
